MATH 461 Abstract Algebra I

Designed to provide students majoring in mathematics with an introduction to abstract algebra. Topics include sets and relations, groups, subgroups, permutation groups, cosets and factor groups, direct products, homomorphisms, rings, integral domains, ideals, fields, field extensions, and geometric constructions. Additional topics may include the Sylow theorems, simplicial complexes and homology groups, or Galois theory. Offered even years.
