SOCI 438 Sociology of Health, Illness, and Healthcare

Examination of the social context of health, illness, and the healthcare system. Attention given to the impact of social, cultural, political, and economic determinants on health, illness and the delivery of medical care in the United States. The course includes but is not limited to social epidemiology, health/illness behavior, medical facilities, healthcare professionals, insurance, and public policy. Includes more in-depth assignments designed for upper division students.
