RELP 400 Grief and Loss
The exploration of the ministry of pastoral care in times of loss and grief from various perspectives. Students will learn why and how humans grieve and how grieving is affected by the type of loss, socioeconomic and cultural factors, individual personality, and family functioning. topics include the meaning of death and loss at different ages, as well as personal, spiritual, and cultural understandings of death, grief, and loss with practical application of the role of pastoral care and empathy pertaining to rituals, funerals, and congregational support.
