Environmental Science Major (Bachelor of Science)

A student majoring in environmental science must complete 57 quarter credits in the core, 52 credits in the cognates and 35 to 42 approved credits in an elective emphasis and emphasis cognates, the general studies program and all baccalaureate degree requirements outlined in this bulletin. Course listings are available for pre-approved elective emphases in:

Alternative elective emphasis proposals should be worked out with an assigned adviser and receive approval of the Natural Resources Committee.

MATH 181, MATH 281, MATH 123, and PHIL 204: Highly recommended. Some elective emphases require a greater mathematical background including MATH 181 and MATH 281. A complete sequence of calculus (MATH 181, MATH 281, MATH 282, MATH 283) is valuable for all.

PHYS 211, PHYS 212, PHYS 213 PHYS 214, PHYS 215, and PHYS 216: Principles of Physics is required in some elective emphases.

BIOL 250: MATH 315, Probability and Statistics is alternatively required in some elective emphases.

MATH 123: In some instances committee approval may be given for alternative electives.
